Privacy Policy
LAST UPDATED: 10 AUGUST 2026
1. Who we are
This website, themarketingplaybooks.com ("we", "us", "our"), is operated by The Marketing Playbooks, based in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data when you use this website.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at: hello@themarketingplaybooks.com
2. What information we collect
Information you give us directly:
- Email sign-ups — your name (if requested) and email address when you join our mailing list or download a free resource.
- Enquiries — your name, email address and the contents of your message when you contact us.
- Purchases — if you buy one of our playbooks through our Etsy shop, your order is processed by Etsy under its own privacy policy (see section 6). We receive your name, email address and order details from Etsy in order to fulfil your purchase.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data — your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited and how you interact with our site, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16, and our products are intended for adults running or marketing a business.
3. How we use your information and our lawful bases
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for every use of your personal data. These are the purposes and bases we rely on:
4. Email marketing
You will only receive marketing emails from us if you have opted in — for example by joining our mailing list or downloading a free playbook. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time with one click or by emailing hello@themarketingplaybooks.com. Unsubscribing stops marketing emails; we may still send you essential service messages about something you have purchased.
Our email list is managed through ActiveCampaign, our email service provider, which stores your details securely on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using them for its own purposes.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies on this website:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function. These are always on.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
- Advertising cookies (Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel) — help us measure and improve our advertising on social media platforms.
Analytics and advertising cookies are only set with your consent, which you can give, refuse or change at any time via the cookie banner on this site. You can also block cookies through your browser settings.
6. Who we share your data with
We share personal data only with service providers who help us run the business, and only to the extent necessary:
- ActiveCampaign — email marketing and list management
- Google (Google Analytics) — website analytics
- Meta and TikTok — advertising measurement (where you have consented to advertising cookies)
- Etsy — our sales platform, which processes orders and payments under its own privacy policy
- Cloudflare — our website hosting provider, to operate this website
- Professional advisers (e.g. accountants) — where required
Each provider acts under contract and may only use your data on our instructions. We may also disclose data where required by law, or to a buyer if the business is ever sold or merged (in which case this policy would continue to apply to your data).
7. International transfers
Some of our service providers (including ActiveCampaign, Google, Meta and TikTok) store data in the United States or other countries outside the UK. Where data leaves the UK, we ensure it is protected by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum.
8. How long we keep your data
- Mailing list data — until you unsubscribe, after which you are removed from active marketing (we keep a minimal suppression record so we don't accidentally email you again)
- Enquiries — up to 2 years after our last contact
- Order and payment records — 6 years, as required by UK tax law
- Analytics data — retained per Google Analytics settings (currently a maximum of 14 months)
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to how we process your data
- Data portability — receive your data in a usable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is our basis for processing
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@themarketingplaybooks.com. We will respond within one month. Exercising your rights is free of charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including using reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No online service can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work to keep risks to a minimum.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page with the date at the top. If we make significant changes, we will let mailing-list subscribers know by email.
